Barney’s Gourmet Hamburgers
While I think the food is good at Barney’s Gourmet Hamburgers, the atmosphere and service are atrocious.
I’ll start by saying that it is a small restaurant. I realize that most places are small in the city but many other places I’ve been are better managed. It’s also extremely noisy.
We walked in and were not greeted. We stood for a few minutes until a waiter brushed passed us and said to sit anywhere. There were not many choices so we plopped down at a table for 4. After waiting several more minutes, we were served water. Awesome…that’s just what I want when i’m hungry. Menu anybody?
We asked a bus boy running through the restaurant for some menus and eventually got some. We then proceeded to wait until we could catch the one and only waiters attention. He did see us after 5 minutes of trying and got our order. I was surprised by how quickly the food came - that was probably the only highlight.
I had the BBQ chicken salad which i thought was good although plain. The description states that there is roasted corn, chips, avocado, and tomatoes in addition to the chicken slathered in BBQ sauce. There was barely any corn and the tomatoes were not ripe. However, they provide half an avocado which is a hefty portion and are generous with the amount of chicken. The BBQ sauce was really good as well. My father had the North Beach burger and devoured it.
Not only did we wait 10 minutes for our food to be cleared once we were finished eating but had to physically get up and track down the waiter to get our bill.
So, while the food was great I highly doubt I will return here due to the terrible service.
