Sumo Sushi Boat is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants around. Bonus: it’s only a couple blocks from my parents house.
Why do I love it? It’s fast, good quality, and fairly priced.
A quick meal: I’m generally in and out of the restaurant in 45 minutes. Because they sushi comes by you on a boat, otherwise known as conveyor belt sushi in Japan, it’s easy to pick what you want and begin eating. I generally order miso soup and a side salad and they come out relatively quickly as well.
A delicious meal: They have a decent selection of sushi as well as other menu items (although I never order anything). The fish is also fresh. My favorite is the Walnut Prawn Roll. Holy YUM! The roll contains tempura shrimp, walnuts, and a special sauce rolled in white rice and topped with avocado. Sushi doesn’t get any better to me.
A reasonable meal: Each plate color represents a different price. If you go in knowing you do not want to spend that much, stick with the more simple sushi. However, I don’t think the higher priced sushi is out of my range. I generally spend around $15 for a good meal - salad, miso soup, 2 expense plates of sushi.
The people that work there are also super friendly. I go probably once every two weeks and they know who I am and what I’m going to order. It’s really awesome! if only I could become Mayor on Foursquare…Damn you Gadi S.!
If you are in downtown and want sushi, go ahead and check out Sumo’s!
